Lai Yee Chinese Calligraphy
Webpage on the Allentown, PA - City Guide Site
Shu Fa, or Chinese brush calligraphy, is a unique art form that has been practiced for more than 3000 years in Asia by its greatest artists and literati. Unlike western calligraphy, which often strives to repeatedly reproduce perfect letter forms, eastern calligraphy treats each written character as an expression of the soul of the artist at that one moment in time, and quite revealing or their personality.
Lai Yee produces hand-written Shu Fa on a number of items, including framed paper, T-shirts, handmade pillows and tote bags (with more items to follow). She can produce custom work to your specifications in various color combinations, with or without English translations shown. Chinese uses characters rather than an alphabet, so names cannot be directly translated from English to Chinese. However, Chinese characters can be chosen which approximate the English pronunciation. Most often, customers choose to have their given, personal name, written in Chinese characters, but a surname, or family name, can also be done. Go to our website for more details.
